Today, the past is controlled by an academic elite which has abandoned its purpose - the search for truth, and the expansion of human knowledge. Instead, fanatics run many of our institutions of learning, and they have replaced truth with ideology. Dissent is not permitted in their journals.
The Dissident Review changes that. Our mission is to publish controversial, banned, and subversive historical research. We publish solely based on merit - because self-education, led by love of what you study, is the only education that matters. We aim to cultivate that education, and give a voice to the massive untapped talent that exists outside of academia.

The academic establishment has forbidden the pursuit of truth, deeming it offensive and dangerous. They fear it because history does not support their ideas. Their shallow perversions of the historical record crumble under the slightest scrutiny. Our goal is to rekindle the spirit of decades and centuries ago, with research not hindered by modern ideology. Merit will once again be able to speak for itself.

The Dissident Review also republishes lost, banned, and rare books, in an effort to encourage direct engagement with the past and the development of a new and subversive historical canon.

The Dissident Review publishes quarterly, in physical print. We publish work in a broad range of formats and on almost any historical topic; detailed submission guidelines can be found here.
On authorship: Since we deal with countercultural ideas, pseudonyms are both allowed and encouraged. Benjamin Franklin, James Fenimore Cooper, Voltaire, and countless other great thinkers popularized their ideas while writing under an assumed name. In times of policed thought, it is necessary.
On subject matter: We will publish work about any and all eras, locations, or figures. Esoteric and controversial topics are encouraged.
