After the outstanding success of our fundraising efforts for My Confession, we have decided to establish an ongoing effort to raise funds for the acquisition and republication of rare books.
Despite the popular narrative surrounding "banned books", the only books which are truly banned today are not banned by legislation. More often than not, controversial or countercultural works are simply retired from print, becoming increasingly rare until used copies cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. This often occurs when a book's conclusions fall out of favor with mainstream narratives, and the work fades into enforced obscurity. However, if copies can be scanned and publishing rights bought, these books can be brought back into print at a reasonable price point, re-entering them into the zeitgeist.
Additionally, many important historical works are yet to be translated into English, or have only been translated in a limited-distribution, high-cost basis. So, for the sake of broader availability, we intend to begin commissioning translations of important works, to be made available widely in digital and print formats.
We see translation and republication as an important act of historical preservation, and a critical aspect of historical activism. Below is a shortlist of works that, pending costs and funding, would be high-priority for republication:
Conquistador Accounts
(Republications & New Translations, with new introductions & commentary)
Relación, Friar Gaspar de Carvajal's account of Orellana's expedition through the Amazon
The History of the Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Diaz (New Translation)
Los Conquistadores by Jose Maria Salaverria (1918 historical work, never translated into English)
A Narrative of De Soto's Expedition, Based on the Diary of Rodrigo Ranjel (New Translation)
Reports on the Discovery of Peru by Francisco de Xerez
Réquiem por el soldado Cristóbal de Olea by Miguel Martín Fernández de Velasco
Other Republications
Winter in Moscow by Malcolm Muggeridge
Under Fourteen Flags by W. D. L'Estrange
The Devastated Vineyard by Dietrich Von Hildebrand
Story of the Crusades by James P. Boyd

In Defense of Colonies by Sir Alan Burns
