By T. S. Eliot (1934)
T. S. Eliot, famous poet and literary critic, was nothing if not prolific. However, of his 60+ works, one has remained obscure and out-of-print: After Strange Gods, a 1934 publication of lectures given by Eliot at the University of Virginia concerning heresy and literature. The series of critical essays caused massive controversy upon release, resulting in it being cut after merely 1,500 copies were produced.
In the years since then, After Strange Gods has been practically buried in the world of literary culture — but now it returns to print, with a re-typeset, modern edition by The Dissident Review. This print edition brings Eliot's words back into circulation, discussing the roles of religion and heresy in developing fiction, poetry, and culture.
It is an incisive and outstanding piece of scholarship, and deserves to be read and discussed once more.
Our edition presents the text in a 5.5 x 8.5" paperback. It will be available at the reduced preorder price until April 1st, when all preorders will ship.
